Frequently Asked Questions

Counselling offers a safe, confidential time and space which is just for you where you can talk about and explore anything that is troubling you. It can help you learn more about yourself and make sense of your thoughts, feelings and motivations, giving you a clearer perspective on life. It can also help you to explore your options and make decisions so that you’re able to make positive changes. It can help you to accept things you cannot change or find ways of changing them. It can help you cope with the stresses of day to day living, achieve your goals and enjoy a happier, more productive life.

There are over 500 different approaches to therapy which can feel overwhelming if you have never had counselling before. Put simply, I’m an integrative counsellor which means I use a range of techniques and resources from counselling theory and adapt them to suit the individual. Everybody is different: an approach that worked brilliantly for your friend may not be right for you and vice versa. I work around you and how you see and experience your world: I’m not the expert. You are. My role is to help you navigate your way and help you find the best solutions for you.

I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling at the University of Manchester while working as a volunteer at Beacon Counselling, a charity offering free or low cost counselling, in Stockport in 2013. I hold BACP Accreditation, a status which is attained by providing detailed evidence of your skills and experience as a therapist.

I began volunteering as a counsellor during my training in 2013. Once qualified, I began working in Private Practice in 2014 as well as with Employee Assistance Programmes provided by companies such as CareFirst, Axa, Vita Health, Health Assured and Pam Group.

I have experience in supporting clients aged 18 upwards with a broad range of issues: anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationships, health anxiety, work related stress, trauma, childhood issues, self-esteem, careers and more.

After our initial appointment, I can advise on what I feel may work best for you but if you are on a tight budget, I’m happy to be flexible. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or even monthly depending what your needs are.

These can be viewed on my Google Business Page but a selection are provided below.

My fees counselling sessions via Zoom are £70 and via telephone are £60 per 50 minute session. I offer concessions for those on a low income.

Please contact me via telephone, text, WhatsApp, the contact form below or via email. We will can then arrange a mutually convenient time to explore your needs further in a free 15 minute, no obligation call. Finding the right counsellor for you is important: please do consider speaking to a few different counsellors before deciding who you feel most comfortable talking to. If I’m unable to help, I will signpost you to alternative sources of support.
